Fraud at the Polls? No, Just an Update on Our Election Contest

Several key primary races have gone into overtime [see related story], so guess what -- so has Maryland Matters' primary prediction contest.

Democratic primaries for county executive in Montgomery and Baltimore counties have yet to be called, pending the final count of absentee and provisional ballots. They will affect the outcome of our contest.

So will the final call of the state Senate primary in Baltimore City between Del. Mary Washington and Sen. Joan Carter Conway. Washington is leading and will probably prevail, the way things are looking. But we're not quite ready to call that one.

Same for another question we asked -- on whether state Comptroller Peter Franchot (D) or state Attorney General Brian Frosh (D) would get more votes in the primary. Right now, Franchot has about 4,000 more votes. He'll probably remain ahead following the final count, but we can't say for sure.

So where does that leave us? By our count -- undiluted by Russian influence or hanging chads -- a dozen people still have a chance of winning, depending on how the final results shake out. But five people have a distinct advantage.

Sit tight -- the suspense is killing us!

Thanks again to everyone for playing.
